We would like to invite school groups to come and discover the world of the Gladiators at the heart of the Nîmes Arenas.

Led by professional coordinators and historians, pupils can gain an introduction to the art of the Gladiators and take part in an educational show on the topic of the games and the battles in the Arenas, and much more besides!

Those accompanying school groups can structure their own visit to the Arenas based on the 3 educational packages available:

    - Educational package 1: showspectacle

    - Educational package 2: show + 1 workshop

    - Educational package 2: show + 1 workshop

The interactive show

Fighting gladiators will take to the stage, in order to introduce the pupils to the history of the Arenas and the different types of games staged in Antiquity.

Pupils will be given details and information about all of the different equipment used by the gladiators, according to the latest archaeological findings.

Pupils will then be given the opportunity to take part in the reconstruction of a gladiator battle.

Educational workshops

These modules, led by cultural mediators specialising in Antiquity, draw on school curricula. They have been designed around 3 themes:

  • - Roman Fibula : pupils can make their own toga pin, an indispensable ornament of Roman dress.
  • - Writing : pupils can try their hand at the art of calligraphy with the aid of various resources and implements (clay writing tablet with a quill, wax writing tablet with a stylus, etc.).
  • - Mosaic NEW : history of the various techniques that were used by the Romans and the opportunity for each pupil to make a mosaic.
